I'm only 3 minutes into it now...
Who the hell are these assholes who go out of their way and take the time to write you guys emails saying "please make drastic changes to the style and format of your podcast so I can like it more, because the fact that you guys sound like you're enjoying yourselves really burns my ass."?!!!
I just don't get it... what gives these people the sense of entitlement to write in asking you to change the podcast to fit their personal tastes better?

There are several other skeptical podcasts out there. If you want a stripped down, streamlined, just-the-facts podcast, listen to Skeptoid or Point Of Inquiry, both very good podcasts. Asking a panel of 6 very passionate people to cut down on their banter is just selfish and stupid. If you don't like it, fast forward or find another podcast, or, better yet, if you think you know what would make such a great podcast, start making your own goddamned podcasts.  :x
have found that the more educated I get, the less I want to do with you smarmy assholes and your obsession with pushing your ideals on other people and and killing their buzz because you think you're helping them.

Evan:

Please, the rhyming is killing me.   You rhymed "three" and "see" twice each in a 6 line poem.  It almost reminds me of the clone high episode where Ghandi becomes a rapper named "G-spot" because he realized that he's awesome at rhyming when he rhymed "G-spot" with "G-spot" (His song was called "G-spot rocks the G-spot.").  Except, obviously, better than that.

Seriously, though, I think the skeptical puzzle is one of my favorite parts of the show, even if Mike does always beat me to the answer.

[Edit: Awesomely, it turns out the episode is online here]

Yeah it's one of the best segments on the show.  Makes you think.  Plus the rhyming is awesome ;)  I just hope we get a full-fledged rap sometime soon.

Luckily for the rest of us, they're greatly (didn't Steve say 2%?) in the minority. Having intelligent and witty conversation about interesting topics is what makes the SGU great, and the friendly banter is an essential element of that.

As to how anyone would actually have the gumption to request that a long-running show change its format to suit their own personal preferences... no idea. Personally, I'd only make such a suggestion if I happened to have a vast amount of experience and success in a similar endeavour, and would back up such a suggestion with the pros/cons of such a change... and even then it would simply be couched as a something to take under consideration.

I'm listening to the podcast and I have to say this. I think your all very funny. I like the banter, and I think it would be very awkward if you took it out. So, talk all you want, just as long as you keep or improve the quality.

P.S. Do you think that awkward is an awkward word? I do.

I've always felt that there's an inverse relationship between the price one pays for a service and the amount of bitching you feel you're entitled to. People seem to bitch the most about things they get for free. I figure because people make the subtle idea that things they get for free they are entitled to (you get stuff free from the government, right? and you're entitled to it, right?).

Do what you want with me but leave Toto out of this.  Sylvia Browne told me that once he goes back to Kansas he will go on to great things!! ;)

Here's a link to the video of the TV show James Randi speaks of:

It's quite funny/pathetic, specially the excuse for why it's not working.
