Please explain Daft Punk

Can someone explain to me why youtube has some meme where young women in a bra and panties join with one or more of their friends in bra and panties and do some robot dance to this tune? (Note none of this is very work friendly.)

It does strike me as similar to the Wonder Girls "tell me" dance.

Wow. Was that a time sink! Thanks for the heads up. Trying to make the connection between Daft Hands and Daft Bodies led me to the Weezer Pork and Beans video and then all the other youtube memes contained within that video, many of which I missed out on in Korea.
