I smile at children all the time when I am out, you just never know if that will be their only form of nice human contact in a day.  So hard to know what goes on behind closed doors.   In some ways it is much the same as domestic violence.


This is a great thought.  I really will try to remember this.

It reminds me a bit of something Bob Dylan's grandmother said, which he quoted in his memoir.

I think I'll read this one right after I finish the one I'm doing now but I'm not good with children/animals getting hurt... :(
