Being from Illinois, I can support their conclusion for that state.  I had a girl in high school tell me that she didn't believe in macroevolution (in so many words), and I responded, "Ya, I can see that."

I'm so embarrassed by pre-me.

It still happens... I go to a southern Illinois high school and about 99.9% of the students and facility are religious in some form.

But does he weigh the same as a duck?
What's so special about the cheesemakers?
Well, obviously it's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.

What Jesus fails to appreciate is that it's the meek who are the problem.

Can someone photoshop these two together in some way that's comprehensible?

I used this map instead (click on image for full res).

I'd say that the correlation is pretty good.

Age of consent for heterosexual sex
Note: some countries, such as the Netherlands, have flexible limits. The age of consent here is 16, so a 16 year old can have sex with anyone of any age above that. However, there is also a "within 4 years" rule applying from 12 onwards. If you are 17, you can therefore legally have sex with someone aged 13.
Of course positions of dependence and authority nullify the age of consent law. A teacher or doctor simply can not have sex with students or patients.

Location of the Roman legions in 80 CE
Note: this is under the Flavian dynasty, about a decade after the death of Nero.

From the height of civilisation. When Britain ruled the waves, the red bits are the Empire:

Dutch Empire
If you want to play it like that, here's our empire!  :P Dark green was administered by the West India Company, light green by the East India Company. The Dutch administered their colonies through companies, that even issued shares etc.

Call that an Empire?

Sun never set on ours!   8)

The Brits did the same with the companies. I always felt that we acquired the Empire rather than set out to get one. Those countries just wouldn't hand over there raw materials to us, so we had to rule them.

But...but...Indonesia is pretty large!

The Roman Empire can similarly be analyzed as "acquired" through time, rather than "set out to get one". At least, up until say Caesar or perhaps a bit earlier. At least in the first couple of centuries the Romans just seem to attack those who annoy them, then leave, then attack again because they're provoked, and leave again, then have to attack YET AGAIN, and then they decide to stick around to prevent further wars.

The vikings weren't bad either.

That's awesome.  I love it when pre-Columbian American history turns out to be true.
