2008 Year End Wrap Up Show!
« on: Nov 18, 2008, 09:58:01 PM »
We are starting to produce our year end show for 2008 and if you have any suggestions please let me know.  Anything like show segments, quotes, guests, favorite news items, skeptical jackass of the year etc.  If you do send us any ideas from the show please let us know what the show # is and if possible what time it took place in the show.

Thanks for your help  ;D

Skeptical Jackassette of the year has to be Jenny McCarthy...dishonorable mentions to the large gaggle of fools that listen to her without question.

Ya, I can't really think of anyone more persistent and pernicious than McCarthy.  VenomFangX gets the "Ms Congeniality" prize for being forced to apologize to Thunderf00t (clicky).

Of course I vote Tyson as Guest of the Year, but I would have said that even if he was never on the show...

I think the coolest news story of the year is the one you're going to talk about later today:  We've seen extrasolar planets!!!  The only other thing that could compete in my heart (the LHC) broke :'(
(but it'll be 'coolest news story of 2009,' I'm sure :D).

I really liked the live shows, and all the interviews at TAM were great.  If I wasn't such a Tyson fanboy, I'd have to call Guest of the Year for George Hrab (ep157).

Please, please PLEASE feature Oprah as the Jackass of the year! I am disgusted by how she gets sucked in week after week by these nut cases. Exposure on Oprah's show adds legitimacy for the average viewer to ever nutcake argument out there. With a MINIMUM of research (certainly she can afford that!), she can weed out the crackpots and at least give the opposing proven scientific view to balance them out....but she never does! She provides such easy pickings, just go to any of her episodes, even the medical personnel she uses are people who are not well respected by the rest of the medical community! PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, she is in a position to do SO much damage!!!!!

This is sooo Jenny McCarty's year.  She shoulders some of the blame for those measles and mumps outbreaks.  Oprah's year was last year when she featured The Secret, Homeopathy, and John "Cold Readin'" Edward.  She was too busy with the election to turn the Oprah enthusiasm machine toward pseudoscience.
