Ok, so it took me a while, but I finally listened to the complete episode.  I think it was frankly the best one since you started doing Unplugged.  Your guest did a terrific job of explaining the theories vs. reality.

One minor problem/question: She said that the reason gays were primarily infected at the beginning of the epidemic was just a fluke.  I had an entirely different understanding, so I'm not sure if I'm wrong or if she was mistaken.  My understanding is that gays have been disproportionately impacted because:

(a) they are more likely to engage in anal sex, and that the virus spreads more easily through blood than other excretions.  This also accounts for why a man is more easily to transmit the virus to a woman than vice versa.  (I could be wrong on both counts, but that's what I was led to believe.)  and;

(b) gay men are more likely to have more sexual partners than straight men (increasing the risk of sexual contact with an infected person.)

I'm not arguing that I'm correct; I was just hoping someone could clarify this point for me.

Karl,

I've downloaded and have been listening to your new podcasts all weekend. Very good format, and I do hope you're able to keep these ones going. You seem to have hit your groove pretty early on, so I can't wait to see where this goes.

From one Canadian to another, high five, eh?

Damn Canadians...it's a miracle you've survived, given your army of death panel bureaucrats just looking for an excuse to euthanize their next victim patient.

Now it can be told... Rich mentioned he wanted to do a show about the new Denver airport conspiracy. I was skeptical but more I researched the topic, more I realized "whoa, this is high cookin' stuff". I've had to sit on my hands to keep from posting about this because I wanted Rich to "break" the story first to the skeptical podcasting world, at least.

Can't wait, actually now I have the dilemma: dogma free or the conspiracy skeptic. Nice problem thanks for the show.

DFA for sure. DFA has reach the point where interviews just get in the way.  Some podcasts are so good you just like the principles. SGU I think is sometimes better when they do a whole hour with just them. Amateur scientist fully rocks without any interviews.

Cool!  I've never even heard of this conspiracy, which makes it even more intriguing:)

Whoops, didn't see there was a new one up (it's abooot time, though).  I'll probably listen to it tomorrow.  But yeah, I've heard of the DIA conspiracy before, quite a bit on Coast-to-Coast AM.  Can't wait until Denver becomes the new US Capitol after 2012 and the pole shift and the reptilians take over!

I just wanted to point out that there are TWO principal design features incorporated into DIA

1) Approaches to multiple runways at the same time - Many airports are able to do this.  The Distance between the runways at DIA allows the maximum arrival rate.  In other words, you can have planes going to two runways right next to each other rather than staggered.

2) (And this is the most important one)  Aircraft can taxi to ANY runway at the airport without crossing any other runway.  This is a huge safety bonus.

I fly in and out of DIA on a regular basis, and it's great.  I'm pretty sure there's no conspiracy there.  Now chemtrails on the other hand.... If I told you what I knew, you might be carried off by the black helicopters.

So, like I said, I knew nothing about this CT before hearing this episode (although, I did see a news story about how locals wanted to get rid of the horse sculpture because it's so hideous.)  But, 5 minutes in, you guys said the magic word -- REPTILIANS!  Woo-hoo, that's conspiracy nut gold!

My thoughts:

1.  Those murals are hideous and completely inappropriate for an airport.

(I pulled these pics off a site talking about how these are images of the anti-Christ.)

2. V was an great min-series!  (Or, at least, my memory of watching it from when I was about 10 years old is that it was great.)  It was the subsequent TV series that ruined it.  The re-make actually looks pretty cool, IMO.

3. They Live was awesome!

4.  But, not as awesome as reptilian shape shifters.

Fact: V was a HUGE sensation in Korea when it aired back in the 1980s. Huge. 30something Koreans still talk about it.

No they believe it's a soon-to-be true story, too?  Or, is that strictly an American obsession?

Btw, you could easily do an entire episode on the bat-shit craziness that is David Icke.  I loved how your guest assumed he meant reptillians = Jews, until he finally recognized -- nope, this guy really is that insane.
