The Man From Earth

David "Stubb" Oswald:
Anyone seen this.  Acting sucks at the beginning, but a very interesting story.

"The film tells a story of John Oldman, a man claiming to be a Cro-Magnon caveman, who still survives after 14,000 years. The entire film is shot in a small house and its porch, relying solely on the conversation of the characters to keep the plot moving: the film is an intellectual discourse between the 14,000-year-old Cro-Magnon and his professor and teacher friends at his farewell party."

Yes, I've seen that, and along with 12 Angry Men I consider it to be the definite proof that to make a gripping movie you need no more than dozen actors and one or two rooms. All the other stuff is just bells and whistles.

Yes 12 angry men is also an amazing movie.
The part about Jesus in this movie was great.

I just watched both of these movies, and enjoyed them very much.  thanks for the recommendations.
The Jesus bit was very Jerome Bixby; I once read a sci-fi short story i think was by him called "behold the man".  In it, a devout Christian invents time travel, so of course his first trip is back to meet Jesus.  It turns out that Jesus, son of Joseph the carpenter, was severely retarded, so of course the time traveler takes on the role himself.

On the theme of excellent movies with a minimal set, I'd have to include "Cube".  Not the sequels, though.
I also recall really enjoying "Mindwalk" and "My Dinner with Andre", though i really don't recall any more about them than that.  So, of course, I'm downloading them to watch again.

edit: whoops, it seems that "behold the man" was Moorcock, not Bixby.  Bixby, however, did write "It's a Good Life" about the creepy little kid born with limitless powers.  The idea was used in one of the Twilight Zone movies.

Voodoo Rage:
I discovered this movie streamable over Netflix. Really good flick and very thought provoking. I thought this movie had a "mixed" skeptical bent. On one side there were a lot of pointed jabs at religion and the evolution of Christianity, on the other hand they also threw in some some crap about "eastern medicine" and "meditation" explaining some of Jon's seemingly miraculous powers.

I was discussion this movie with someone else who felt it was a too much of a stretch that Jon was so connected to so many historical figures.
