Oh carp... I just realised that I might have embarked on a site with no access to Goblins. And I have a fully functional fortress now, and was beginning to wonder why no fun stuff was happening.

There isn't a way to edit them in, no?
There's, another example. See, here I'm now sitting by myself, uh, er, talking to myself. That's, that's chaos.

But I want sieges and goblinite!

I just started a new fortress. It seems pretty solid, I'm swimming in iron.

How can I get dead creatures out of cages?

So, as part of the new hauling update, minecarts are being added to the game.

I thought at least some of you might enjoy this recent post from the dev log.

Quote from: Toady One
I set a hauler to ride a minecart to its next stop. That happened to take the dwarf down eight ramps and then up a launch ramp into an open cavern. High up in the cavern there was a wide ledge and on the ledge there was a goblin, chilling out right where I had created it. I activated the dwarf's squad, and he had just enough hang-time at the top of the flight arc to get a punch in. The goblin struck back but the dwarf jumped on to the ledge, where they continued to fight as the cart fell down into the darkness.

This is why DF is infuriating to me. On half of the game is made up of completely awesome situations like that, but the other half consists in not being able to get my marksdwarves to use their bolts or getting some other trivially banal, yet necessary, thing to work. At least that's been my experience.
"Truth gains more even by the errors of one who, with due study, and preparation, thinks for himself, than by the true opinions of those who only hold them because they do not suffer themselves to think." ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty (1859)

select the cage. The body should be an item inside the cage. (d)ump the body (you need a garbage zone set up.)
