This American Life - "The Devil in Me"
« on: May 29, 2009, 12:30:16 PM »
I just lisented to episode 340 of This American Life, entitled, "The Devil in Me."  The first two parts were typically great; act one was an Iraq war vet dealing with his prejudices and PTSD and act two was just a short bit about the voices in peoples heads.  Act three was the one that made me want to post about it.

This fundi Christian talks about his experience "fighting a demon."  I didn't even want to hear about it--I almost didn't listen to the episode, it just sounded too stupid--but it turned out to be really, really good.  The way he talked about it, it was like he was explaining just why being a fundamentalist is so attractive to so many people.  It was very informative, entertaining, and it has an ending I think everyone here will enjoy immensly.

Here's the page for the episode: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?sched=1259

click the link "Full Episode" on the left.  Act III begins 45:20 into the episode and is 10.5 minutes long (it's like a youtube clip, worth the time!).

I love This American Life.  And, if I'm not mistaken, Ira Glass is an atheist :)
