Yeah, Karma won't be making a return.  I know what Dog Delusion means by the "thank you" feature, though. VBulletin has it, and it is indeed kind of cool.

But not bumping a thread you post in?  Why would you post something that you know no one would ever read?

I can see how this could allow trolls to take an extinct thread, and start saying things behind people's backs.

What do you mean exactly?

What part of what I said was unclear?

I don't see what an 'extinct' thread has anything to do with trolls talking behind someone's back.

I have no clue what you mean by that. Can you explain?

I mean, that trolls will look for old threads that aren't locked, and cause trouble in there, because not bumping the topic would mean that most people won't notice.

Maybe.  I mean, if a thread is so old and just a few people start posting in it again and it doesn't bump, then I doubt anyone else will notice unless one of those who posted in the thread brings it to the limelight.

My point exactly.

I guess I didn't think about that...I was thinking it might just be nice for newer members to be able to add to the conversations about old episodes without necessarily bumping 3-year-old threads. I suppose that it could be set up that it would still notify the previous posters that there's a new reply in the thread - I was just more concerned with not bumping a long-dead thread just to make a joke or something, but I guess I can also see the wisdom in saying that "if it's not worth bumping the thread, it's not worth posting."

As far as Karma/rep/thanks, I've seen similar systems, but I rather prefer the ones that don't have a "thumbs down" option, but just the option to mark/compliment the posts that are good. But yeah, it looks like such a system has already (more or less) been tried out and rejected.

Please please PLEASE, reconfigure your forum, so that when you create an account it doesn't send your password to you in plain text.

It's very bad form, and very poor security.

If I could, I would have done so a long, long time ago.   :(

The alternative would be a reset link, which has its own list of issues.

Can we please set the explicit threads to expire after a maximum amount of time?  I don't think the intention of the change to the timeout feature of the explicit forum was to allow threads to live for over two years (the boob thread was started September 2008).

They survive if people still post in them, so if people are still posting, I don't see why the thread should die.

Cause I want out of the ass and boob thread! I was young and stupid. I'm sorry I didn't consider that they would follow me for ever.

Concerning that cartoon.

I have two passwords I use.

One is only for my real/important accounts: email, online bank, etc. (with slight differences)

And one for websites like this.
