has it ever come up before (maybe it's just my isolated corner of the globe) why this forum, unlike any other, laaaaaaaaaaaags like a bitch some times?

is there anything I can do about this? is it anything to do with FireFox? I'm on broadband, I don't know what the issue is, or why I never see it happen anywhere else.

I do from time to time get those "server busy" white screen messages, but that's not (I'm pretty sure), what I'm talking about.

this is where it just freezes (near as I can tell) ...say, when posting.

but if I try a few times to load a main forum page, I can observe that the post has indeed gone through, though I'm still frozen on the 'send' page, so I'd assume it's business as usual.

Sorry, I know it's been mentioned, but I have to echo the observation that the site isn't touch-friendly. So in order to keep from bitching without offering a solution:

The Prev/Next buttons are useless, at least to me. They'd be handier if they controlled the thread page instead of the thread.
I have to zoom in to hit the button on my phone and tablet so I don't go to the last page and screw up my Last Read marker. A Next Page/Previous Page button would be extremely useful. All forums have this problem, but the layout of this one is the least tablet-friendly.

#1) Should have an option to "unsubscribe" from threads you dont want to show up in your "new replies to your posts" area

#2)Notification from being quoted

This is a popular request down on the "Technical Administration" forum too. The short answer is that the forum software simply can't do that. The long answer is here: http://sguforums.com/index.php/topic,39830.msg9147161.html#msg9147161

#2)Notification from being quoted

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you elaborate?
I expect to pass through this world but once;
any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now;
let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

Oh! Yeah that would be cool. I dint' see any SMF-supported modification for it, though.

Jesus! How bothersome. I suppose some who aren't accustomed to being quoted it might sound good, but....  ;)

Another possible solution is to use tapatalk. I have not used it, but apparently it makes forum reading easier on handheld devices. It's free to enable it for the forum, although I don't know what has to be done technically. Unfortunately it's $3 for the user. Still, if enabling it is easy some people might benefit.

Oh, one other drawback is that when you access the forum it prompts you to get the tapatalk app, which might be annoying to those who don't want it. I believe it only does it once but if you clear your cookies it will happen again.

This isn't so much of a suggestion as it is an "I just noticed this, I like it, I suggest you keep it up." ...

I just noticed that under TheSkepticsGuide's twitter handle Beleth occasionally tweets about interesting threads in the forums. I don't know if that's a new thing, but I didn't notice it until recently. I like it. Keep it up, and thanks!

Thanks!

I've done it maybe 8-10 times over the last couple years. I don't do it nearly as often as I should.
