jQuery.min.js creates the base popup, btw. Blocking just that seems to work fine.
I don't know how the site is up, but I'm going to hazard a guess that you *really* don't want to block jQuery. Even if bloc, king it does no harm now, there's no guarantee that a future version of the board or new feature won't require it.
If only there were a way to unblock something! :(

If only there was a way to write the opposite of what I mean whilst still conveying my actual point!  :(
Let's not get crazy here.

Do you think that we could have an animal/pet section?  No bestiality please.  My cat is cracking me up right now.

there are 'aww', 'lol', and 'anti-bitching' threads where it's perfectly appropriate to gush about your kitteh in the mean time :)

Did you notice the additional contact options in your Profile? I've added my Twitter account to mine, which is why the Twitter logo is appearing under my avatar. FB and G+ are available now too.

Oh, yay!

In addition to the suggestion given by GodSlayer, feel free to start your own cat thread in General. We usually only create new sections when an existing section gets bogged down by multiple threads that have a common theme--Politics, Religion/Philosophy, and the Health sections all sprang from the General section nearly fully formed. I'm tempted to draw some sort of analogy to the evolution of species--with members being the natural selection force, and moderators being DNA, maybe. (I didn't say it was a good analogy.)

What you want is to go resurrect the old Caturday thread.

That's actually a great idea. It might be hard to do in practice, but I'll give it a go.
I'm just quoting this part because I didn't know you could do mouse-over text in BBC (and didn't know how). So, thanks!

Yeah, I love that tag. ...

I think there should be a button for it in the editor. I mean, do we really need buttons for... glow and shadow and marquee? ;)

I can turn the glow, shadow, and marquee buttons off by disabling the corresponding BBcode tags, but I can't make an abbr tag button appear. I tried.  :(

Thanks for trying. I wasn't actually serious about wanting the change, but I do love the [abbr][/abbr] tags. :)

The ShareThis modification has been removed. No one asked for it to begin with, very few people liked it, and it was slowing down page load times for people. It was a shiny thing that caught my eye, and it turned out to have too little value.

Thanks, TLV!

Sweet. I'll have to [abbr=oooh, maybe I can do it now]try that[/abbr]. I had always assumed it required the whole post to go without bbc tags.

Now if it would just put the "abbr' code tag in a , different color,  so that you know to mouse over it.

I've never seen a single post using that tag.

Also, bring back the thing you just took away!  (j/k)

I actually thought the dotted underline was a good solution. visible enough to notice most of the time but not so obvious as to distract from reading the sentence. I try not to put anything important in there so that people who don't notice the underline (or don't know to mouse over) don't miss anything.
