Blood type diet and Dosha?
« on: September 10, 2009, 07:08:43 PM »
Hey All,

What do you make of this statement made on my friends Facebook?

I have been doing some research. It would seem that the foods that are "right" for her blood type are "wrong" for her dosha. How delightfully entertaining.

"WTF is a dosha?"

Isn't life complex enough without piling phoney complexity on top of it?

Too lazy to do any research, but I'm pretty sure this idea that the different kinds of antigens in your blood (on your red blood cells?) can be differentially affected by diet has been debunked.

I fully agree, yet I don't think that "evidence" is going to win any arguments! :D

Your friend sounds like a dosha bag.

(Now, where'd I put that rimshot button...)

Edit:  Well, I couldn't find my rimshot button, but this'll do in a pinch:

Yea, they did.  And, I work with a number of Japanese women who confirmed this is big in Japan (basing personalities on blood type.)

I have a couple of friends at work who were into both the Blood type diet and the Aryuveda(dosha) bodytype diets.  I thing they've both given up on them.

The Blood Type diet is basically psuedo-scientific BS based on the notion that humans developed the ABO blood types as a result of exposure to different foods. O = hunter gathers, plenty of meat.  A = farmers, grains and what not.  B = nomads, dairy.

The Dosha is a body type in aryuvedic (traditional indian) medicine, the ones who prescribe heavy metals to Balance your energy.  Its alot like the notion of QI but there are 3 different types instead of two.  Based on your shape, you apparently have differing amounts of the 3 energies and different foods bring them into balance.  Prescientific magic instead of psuedo-science.
