It's a beautiful conundrum.

Were the Doctors who diagnosed her wrong?

Was it all psychogenic?

Both postulates involve conundrums.  In fact, the beauty of it is there is, at this point, no way to explain it all away with out running into something unexplainable.

Not that this ever stopped anyone, but, I am just saying.  It's beautiful.

Calling it Bullshit doesn't explain anything of course.

Were the Doctors who diagnosed her wrong?

I'd say the majority of the doctors (who didn't diagnose her with Dystonia) got it right, actually.

And what exactly is the conundrum of it being psychogenic? These things are known to happen.

The conundrum seems obvious to me.  But considering the criticisms of my brevity, I probably should explain at length.

Time to spend is sporadic at the moment, but I will make an effort.

It would be helpful to state the facts as we know them, in story form, despite the difficulties in even determining what are the facts.

Dr. Novella discussed this video in depth on the podcast.  In short, he said that her symptoms are not at all consistent with dystonia, and that there is not a single case of dystonia caused by vaccines in the literature.  He did say she's not necessarily faking, but that whatever her illness, it was not caused by the vaccine.

Shocking... ::)

Here's something from scienceblogs.  Looks like she's gone to a quack doctor who cured her using a hyperbolic chamber (and possible urine injections) in 36 hours.  Dr. Novella is quoted at the end of the posting.

FX, let me save you the trouble

All the information about her case came from interviews with her.  She claimed doctors told her she got dystonia from a flu shot.  Experts analyzed the video and disagreed.  At this point, all we can say for sure is that it is her word VS experts.  But then a few things happened.  Let's call this part 2.  Someone found her VAERS report, in which a neurologist described a strong psychogenic component to her symptoms.  Then she claims to have made huge amounts of recovery in a span of a few days, under care of a doctor who is very questionable, using treatments that are very questionable, who diagnosed her with something very dubious.

Now, up until part 2, I think if you wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, it would be fair but a stretch.   As it stands now, I think we can safely say there is no way she had developed nervous system damage from  a flu shot.

When you start off with something that is simply not true, the rest of your argument is suspect.

Even the critics mentioned the VAERS report, which was obviously filed by a Doctor.

But it does bring up another issue.  Science by media and YouTube. And blogs.

OK if that's true why should I even believe that this woman exists and isn't CGI?  What relevant information do you have about this case that doesn't come from her TV interviews and website?

And millions will refuse to get vaccinated because of her.

On the bright side, there's a shortage in the US, so this improves the odds of my son and I getting the jab.

This clip has a movement disorder specialists that says essentially everything Steve has concerning dystonia and psychogenic disorders.

More Expert Opinion That Dystonia From Flu Shot Is PsychogenicDQ

It's too bad that he doesn't directly address the vaccine accusation, because that's what's really getting people's attention.  Talking about psychological disorders, while relevant, just confuses the general public, I think.

What more conclusion do you want?  We have a woman who was misdiagnosed with  dystonia.  She got better using some type of woo treatment (i.e. her illness was psychological.)  End of story.

It would be naive to think that is the end of the story.

If anything, the story got even more complicated now that she can talk normal again.
