Perfectly sensible for anyone who needs to work in the cold but needs to manipulate things with the fingers and so can't wear full gloves, e.g. outdoor carpentry in winter. The usual way was simply to cut the finger tips off ordinary gloves and sew around to stop them fraying, but if you can buy them ready made, so much the better. If they are available in the UK, I think I'll get some.
Silly name, though.
