Playing football is not necessarily any more or less expensive than playing soccer.  The only thing you need to play is a ball. 

I played soccer when I was a kid.  I like the game and watch on occasion.  But, in my opinion, there's nothing more exciting in the world of sports than watching an American football game.

As for the time outs, I suspect that has more to do with generating ad revenue than with ADD.

Yes, I should have been more specific, ADD was referring to basketball. (And I have to admit I like watching basketball.) And I don't know if I wanted to play American Football without any protective gear...

You'd be hard pressed to find a guy in the U.S. who didn't play tackle football as a boy.  I'm not saying no one ever gets injured, but it's certainly not common.

We used to play every afternoon, and nobody ever got really hurt until guys started playing organized football and got used to playing with technique and pads.

I would definitely be interested in that for basketball.  Seriously, it seems as if not matter how far behind you are, you can always come back with 4 to 5 minutes left.  I don't feel the same when I watch football (or any other sport, really.)

I have to care. I care about college football. The pro game scores too much. Its still good but I need some drama. I like the end when the game might be on the line. The closer the game is to Auburn the better it is to me.

They're all fun to play, even curling.

When I was younger I played football and softball and basketball, all games I find incredibly boring to watch, and they were all fun.

Here's another thing, without a narrative all sports are difficult to get into watching.  I care about hockey and soccer, because I care about the stories and rivalries that I've grown up watching.  And you get into those from talking to your friends, relatives etc...  It also helps if you play the sport, so you know what you're watching for.
