How does the book deal with the glaring continuity error a couple of verses into chapter 2, when the whole creation starts again, but differently?
It doesn't. It's just an illustrated version of the bible, so it does one story, then it does the other. There aren't any commentaries or footnotes within the work itself - just verse by verse illustrations of the entire Book of Genesis.

Yeah, he pushes through that section with a wall of text and something akin to a giant family-reunion style picture of everybody milling around in a group, if I recall. I'm honestly too lazy to turn around in my chair, reach up three feet, and open the book to tell you for sure.
