The Forum is not a mechanism to get more people to listen to the podcast.  Never has been, never will be.  So your first two questions are moot.

Double bullshit.  Then make the entire forum private.  You guys are clearly afraid to let the world see that many of your posters are skeptical of AGW alramism.

That change would serve absolutely no purpose.

Clearly not.  The reasons the forum is private are in the Welcome sticky.

Look, I'm sorry that that means that your posts here don't get put into search engines.  The plus side is that you are a bit freer in the language you can use.

I was just reading about some Orwellian topics, including memory holes. COINCIDENCE!? I THINK NOT.

You seem to be suggesting that there was a time where the Forum was a mechanism for increasing the podcast audience.

As far as I know, and this comes from what I've heard on the podcast, the Forum has always been intended as a place where people who already listen to the podcast can come to talk to other like minded people. That was it's original intent, anyway, and I think we're trying to keep as much to that as possible. It's great that we've been getting other members through other avenues, and that we can direct them to the awesomeness that is the SGU, but just because we have a minority of posters that don't listen to the podcast doesn't mean that we need to shift the focus of the Forum from it's original intent.

On the contrary, they're actually afraid to let the world see that many posters are skeptical of AGW denialism.

Well, a lot of times, like this one, it comes down to "I don't like it how it is" / "But there are reasons why it is the way it is" / "Well, I don't like those reasons" ... and seriously, how can a situation like that get resolved?
