Better than my first post.
i feel it should be up to jay mostly because it's his bit to do - i understand the whole listener feedback thing, but whether or not the quote is before or after the author is such a trivial matter i'm surprised it even registered on the radar.  also, i'm sure the people that cared about it enough to bother the gallery about it presented a sort of bias - the last i looked at the percentage of people that voted (now that the quote fiasco is in it's third or so week) were spread fairly evenly, more in the category of "i don't care."  basically, what i'm trying to get at is that the original impression that steve got presented only a fraction of the people that listen, and those people were obviously biased since they took the time to write in their opinions (as they should).  of course, the people that liked the way that the quote was set up weren't going to write emails saying "i like how the quote is done" and the people who don't care (or feel it's the domain of jay and/or whoever's doing the quote) aren't going to write in to say "do it your way"/"i don't care" until something like the furor that has happened happens.

in summation:  go jay!
I thought it was cute to not capitalize. Ah, youth.

Also, I didn't understand the whole "brevity" thing yet.

Also, I say "also" a lot. :/

This forum has been no stranger to controversey.
The wounds from "before or after the quote-gate" still fester.

Yeah, there were some jerky responses to my opinions on the matter. I still don't get what all the fuss is about.

You wanna give it a go?

What?  Skulker wasn't making a "Lady Marmalade" allusion?

Hi, Callum from Aberdeen in Scotland.  I've been listening to the SGU for about 2 years now.  I got into it by first listening to the Dr Karl Science Phone In on BBC Radio 5 Live.  The presenter mentioned a podcast called Skeptoid and I went and gave it a listen.  It was then I realised there was this whole community dedicated to skeptism and it really fascinated me.  I've always been into science since I was a kid but I was also really into stuff about supernatural and unexplained phenomena.  Even at the hight of this fascination it was more of a "wouldn't it be awesome if these UFO sightings or ghost sightings were/are real" idea rather then being a "true believer".

From listening to podcasts like Skeptoid and SGU I've learnt a lot about critical analysis/thinking and just the sort of questions you should ask and how to examine the evidence better.  I thought joining this forum and reading and hopefully trying to contribute would further help me strength these skills.

Welcome to the forum Callum. Don forget to map yourself. I think you're the first one here from Aberdeen or maybe even from Scotland.
