I think this could be the biggest news in UFO's in a long time.  Signing on Kaku, one of the big science popularizers of the day, to the "these are pilots, military generals, seeing these things" line of thinking is a huge blow in the battle for hearts and minds.

My thoughts exactly.  I had always assumed he was a skeptic, if not in name, at least in practice.

He also pulls the classic conflation between 5% which "can't be explained" and 5% which "there is not enough information to explain".

It certainly seems that he's gone all Linus Pauling on us. This isn't primarily a matter for a physicist, but for an aircrafts engineer or (preferably) a psychologist who specializes in perception.

He definitely needs to return to the SGU and explain his stance to experienced skeptics. It would surprise me if it stood up to scrutiny,

The irony is that, just as Kaku is using the flawed logic of "well, people in the airforce saw it, so it MUST be true!"; the UFOlogists are going to use the same flawed logic of "well, a respected physicist believes it, so it MUST be true!"

I'm a little disappointed with dr. Kaku, I think he lets Chopra off too easily and does not oppose even the most obvious insanities that he puts forth...

Now it's obvious Chopra is going to use this interview to say that his nutty "theories" were given a pass by Michio Kaku. Perhaps dr. Kaku was a bit naive when going into this interview and not prepared to really sceptically oppose what he heard there.... but that does not excuse him from typing "Deepak Chopra" into Google and doing his homework before committing to the interview.

I also surmise his lack of skepticism might be the result of his inexperience in matters of biology and thus he mostly glosses over all instances when Chopra says all human cells are entangled.... a statement so nealadamsy stupid it boggles the mind.
