So let me get this straight.

Folks have been submitting mod reports for about a month complaining about other members changing their display names to really immature, display-breaking character strings.

Instead of implementing an immediate lockdown of the ability to change display names, I hold a poll to see what the membership in general wants.

The majority want the ability to be disabled.

I give people almost two weeks to change their display name before I lock it down.

In short, I bend over backwards to accommodate the name-changers.

In return for this, I get called a Nazi by one of the name-changers to whom I have been catering all this time.

How about that.

Whether the consequences have made a permanent change or not has yet to be seen, but when HB got banned and Bunsen called all the mods NAZIs (see: Chew's signature) this didn't happen, so we can at least say that they aren't static properties. Or perhaps they are, and Bunsen, being a Bodhisattva, is simply above them.
