Matt Groening Reveals the Location of the Real Springfield

Am I the only one who was happier when it was anywhere/nowhere?

I'm the type of person who has to know things like that, so I'm glad that I finally know.

This bit of non canon non trivia, although slightly interesting to this fan, does not lesson the Springfield in the Simpson's universe one bit. To me at least, it's the same old Springfield, with all the same old state mystery gags. I love Springfield. Fuck Shelbyville. This is all that really matters, willing up you outrage and disgust at Shelbyville. Just don't knock Ogenville, those are my peoples.

But what about Brockway, and North Haverbrook? (Ye gods, I actually remember those.)

Don't forget Crackton and Bumtown. And Springfield is supposed to be north of Spittle county.

Crackton had me spit-take when I first heard it.

Bart: Smell that Ralph? That’s the smell of justice.
Ralph: It smells like hot dogs.

Milhouse: It’s like Speed 2, only with a bus instead of a boat!

Marge: Lisa, I made you some homemade Pepsi for the dance!

Marge: Grandpa, are you sitting on the apple pie?
Grandpa: I sure hope so.

This scene had me laughing so hard I passed out. I woke up on the floor.

Is there some context that makes it funnier?

I feel like I must be missing something with that scene.

His screaming and yelling is what made it funny for me.

Considering that Springfield has a coastal port to international waters, I am pretty sure that it is still in no location in particular.

Yeah, he just says he named it after that particular Springfield, not that it is that Springfield.

Bart: Barbershop? That ain't been popular since aught-six, dagnabbit.

Homer: Bart, what did I tell you?

Bart: No talking like a grizzled 1890's prospector, consarn it.
