you can harvest wood and stone and stuff.

then you can turn that stuff into other stuff, such as wood can be used to make sticks, tables, etc.

then you use the resources you have and build your own objects?

i mean, sounds interesting, but some people play it for hours and hours on end?

As far as I know it's basically the same thing at this point.  There are several similar games.  Manic Digger even went so far as to steal code from Minecraft.  I think Infiniminer was the first, and inspired development of Minecraft.

WASD to move
Space to jump
R to respawn at the spawn point.
Enter to set a new spawn point.
B to open the inventory
F to toggle fog distance
Escape to release mouse and open game menu
1-9 or scrollwheel to change building block type

Game needs an objective.  Give me a reason to care about the cool environment when I can do everything in the game by digging down a bit.

Building novelty things like computers or spaceships is cool... that only gives me incentive to look at their creations on youtube, not play the game.

Minecraft is in alpha, btw.  Can't expect a complete game.

It's still under heavy development.  There is going to be more of a narrative in future versions.
