FWIW, B&N is in financial trouble.  The company is looking for a buyer, and may be facing bankruptcy.  I don't know if this is a big factor for you, but it might be worth considering the stability of the company offering the ebook service.
Doesn't at all matter anymore since if the cheaper Nook is anything like the Nook color then you can get your books from Google Books.

You can get the public domain books from Google Books. I don't think B&N has a sales agreement with Google at this time; I don't think Google has much of a way to sell books, period.

So I've already downloaded a ridiculous number of free ebooks. *sigh*

I mean, War & Peace! How could I not download that?

Yes thanks for telling the guy who bought books from Google that the books he book doesn't work with the Nook despite the fact that the book he has been reading for the past week on the Nook was obtained using Google Books. What were you thinking? I'd just come into this little discussion and randomly make up bits of information.

I did say "I think", which implies "I do not know for sure." Yeesh. The autism is high with this one.

I opted for the 3G Kindle, since I don't have internet during the work week (when I'm out of town for seven days). The Kindle allows me to surf the web (slowly) and at least check my email.

Not to mention download books.
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

That's not really called for, dude. It's not like he was trying to steal your turnips or anything, he was just offering his two cents. You don't have to get all upset about it.

In fact, the mature thing to do would have been to say, "well, actually, I haven't had any problems reading Google books on my Nook." How hard would that have been? Seriously? What is it about the internet that turns everyone into a snarky teenager? An annoying snarky teenager in some cases.

Have you considered the possibility that Beep Boop Boop is a snarky teenager?

What does "Series Live.com" have to do with the inconceivability of Beep Beep Boop being a teenager on the internet?

Come on people this isn't like pc vs MAC. This is about kindle vs nook. No reason to get all snarky.  ;)
Well the wife has had her nook for a few weeks now and that is all she has been reading. There was a new up date and it added some neat features. I still have not figures out how to get books out of the library yet. Every time I find a book that I would like to check out it is unavailaible. I guess I will just have to go over to the library to let them check me out. I really think you can't go wrong with any of the e readers.

Cashier: Do you have a membership with us?
Me: HAHAHA NO LOSUR*
C: Ooookay. So how will you be paying for these books?
M: PAYING? LOLWUT!?** I WAS JUST GIVING THESE BACK TO YOU SO YOU COULD RESHELVE THEM
C: Oh, I see you have a Nook.
M: AHAHAHAHAHA NO UR A LOSER X 10 THIS IS A KINDLE MAFAKA
C: Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to exit the store.
M: I'M GOING TO HAVE TO ASK YOOOOOU TO EXIT THE STORE
C: (calls security)
M: (runs out, turning at the last minute) AMAZON BITCHES

*actually I do have one and I use it pretty regularly. :(
**pronounced "lolwut". The emphasis is on the first syllable.
