Okay several people here squealed about Saga. They were right. Read the first 3 books so far and it's great.
The one thing I have to gush about is
a nearly perfectly setup and executed plot twist in book 3. The Will is seeing visions of his ex-lover encouraging him to stay on the planet, and we find out that these hallucinations are caused by a parasite looking to increase host availability. This is a super complicated idea that would have taken me paragraphs to explain correctly, and Vaughn/Staples pull it off in like 2 panels. And then the twist dawns on you at pretty much the same rate it dawns on The Will - he's not the only one who has been affected by this parasite. I've always been aware at how important page spacing is with comics, but this was a great example of it. You see him being worried at the end of a page and you start to work out what's wrong, you turn the page and catch a glimpse of a knife in your peripheral vision, and then you see the attack. Very well done.
I caught up through Book 6 just last night. I usually order stuff online, but I made it a point to buy these at a local comic shop just because I love this so much, I want everybody involved to get their monetary due.
I'm so thoroughly pulled into these characters and their stories, and it's been so good, I'm not worried at all about being disappointed... just excited to read what comes next.
Re: Sawyer's comments in the spoiler:
Totally agree!! I (probably like most folks) just assumed it was an "internal conflict/inner voice" type thing going on... such a cool/sad moment when he gets stabbed.
