Thanks everyone for the titles recommendations.  Hope they keep coming.  I'm taking note for the next comic con in NC.  Should have Fanaticon and Heroes Con this spring/early summer.

We3 made me cry. :(

I, too, am glad for the recommendations.

i keep hearing that We3 is going to be made into a movie. it makes me hope because We3 is just the right length to be a movie without having to tampler with it too much [/foolish_optimistic]

Has anyone been reading Morning Glories or Infinite Vacation, both on Image?  I've heard good things and might give 'em a shot.

Chew: Vol 3 and The Unwritten: Vol 1 just arrived today. I'll read them tomorrow - too much homework to do today. But I am soooooo excited.

I've read WE3 and have to confess that it didn't grab me.

My graphic novel collection is currently around the 250 mark, but only DC comics with the Vertigo imprint. They're much grittier and have deeper stories than most.

Personal favourites:

Sandman
Transmetropolitan
Fables
Y: The Last Man
Exterminators
Hellblazer
Human Target
Ex Machina
Lucifer

A few great one-offs are:

Revolver
Proposition Player
It's a Bird

All of these are excellent and well worth getting.

I've only read a handfull, but I really enjoyed the following:

Transmetropolitan - Warren Ellis. It's just so badass.
The Maxx - Sam Keith. It's pretty weird, but a great reality jumping crazed detective story.
It's coherent up to issue 20, but after that it goes off the rails.

I read a couple TPB's of Sandman, really enjoyed, but need to re-visit.

Eh, you haven't missed much.

I might pick me up some Transmetropolis. I've thought about it when I've been a bookstore that has graphic novels but I can never convince myself to do it.

Transmet is a grim vision of the future, it's mostly obsessed with an election.
Well worth the read. Spider Jerusalem is a fairly unlikeable character, but he does have a two headed cat.

Hmm... maybe skip it there's lots of smoking.
