I've had this podcast on my list for quite a while. used to not care of listen very often, but I've grown to like it more. It's skepticism/science enthusiasm (in part) that doesn't specifically try to be skepticism/science enthusiasm. "A superior blend of science and comedy" indeed.

Pol Pot The story of what he tried to do and the anti-technology stuff was interesting and a little horrifying.

Hoarding. Interesting perspective. I guess I'm not really a hoarder since I constantly realize and think about how much crap I have. After listening to this episode I made it a point to throw away one plastic shopping bag worth of useless crap I had (not that hard). And I even took steps to see about getting rid of other stuff.

Ghost towns A personal topic of interest.

re Joe's remarks circa minute 39:
in their defense, if the Earth was incinerated no one would need to know how high on the scale the event was, so we don't exactly need to improve on this one :)

It did not show up till the end of Dark City, and it was not our Sun.   ;D

We can burn brighter than the sun, from reports on radio. Or that might be just if you're young.

Those with the degree, Doctor of Philosophy, i.e. PhD could have written their thesis in any field (not just Philosophy)
IIRC hers is in biochemistry, in particular proteins involved in TB.

That was basically my chapter on the sun. From now on I'll just give my kids a link to this episode and go for drinks.
