Before In Rainbows was released she refused to listen to any Radiohead for an entire year. Every time a song would come on in a restaurant or bar she would run out with her fingers in her ears. Her reasoning was that it worked her up for the new album, although it proved to be a pretty big inconvenience in certain situations.

O_o   It's cool that she had that level of discipline, but a year without Radiohead is a long time. D;

I've listened to it twice now. I like it so far and will enjoy getting to know it better. Codex is gorgeous and I like the imagery that springs to mind.

I just heard about this on the radio on the way home tonight.
Will definitely be picking it up soon.

OK, I'm calling it.

I don't like this album.  Everything except the single (which is my new favourite song) is mediocre.

This sucks :(

It's growing on me with every listen. I think you'll feel better about it with time.

The new album isn't scrobbling on last.fm. It's no big deal, but does anyone know how to fix it? The songs do appear when I hover my arrow over the last.fm icon in the taskbar, and each song will appear on my last.fm page as it's playing, but then it disappears. They don't get added to the list of Recently Listened Tracks.

I'm using Windows Media Player. At first, the songs didn't register in last.fm at all. I had to drag them to the playlist area in WMP and then drag them from there into the Radiohead folder in the Artists section of WMP. And then I had to update all the details.

It's possible, but so far it's the opposite of my experience with all the rest of Radiohead albums.

After the first listen, I must say I like it. More electronic than I normally like, but rich, deep and subtle.

This is not driving music or programming music, but real listening and thinking music. The problem is I don't have much time for listening and thinking anymore.
Three thousand quirks and counting...

I have to say that the album sort of leaves me thinking there will be more tracks released later in the year... sort of like how many more "indie" bands now are just releasing 4 or 6 tracks at a time, and getting away from the whole concept of an "album."  I only say this because while I don't HATE this album, I feel like you've got 3 or 4 good songs and then some "meh" stuff.

OK, so I'm listening to it again right now, and I decided to delete the post that was here, which I think came off as being more negative about the album than I actually feel. Basically, it's not one of my top 3 Radiohead albums, but I do think it's very good and that it works great as an album. I am also not put off by the electronics like some people are. I actually love electronic music and was hoping they would go back in that direction. I think you're right, quirk3k, about it being the kind of album that you have to sort of set time aside for to really listen to and appreciate.

The album feels kinda dull to me. 2 songs are interesting, and the rest of it feels like elevator music. Not music that I can just listen to by its self and enjoy.

As a whole its not their best work. Lots of albums set to come out this year, I hope they will be better.

I love it! I saw one of the new tracks played live in the Summer when Thom Yorke played at the Big Chill festival, and I have been excited ever since. It is very very Thom Yorke, and not very anyone else!
Get used to it honey. From now on, we'll be spelling everything with letters.

I'm listening to it right now, and will have an opinion about it after my fangirl endorphin high has worn off. Right now, I'm just frakking excited to have a new Radiohead album to listen to.

Radiohead are the only thing I'm fangirl about. lol.

So, having had the album for a few weeks now, I can safely say that...I basically listened to it a few times and forgot all about it.  They play a couple of tracks from the album on the Sirius alternative channel I listen to, and I certainly enjoy the songs.  But, overall, it's definitely a disappointment.  Any of these tracks could have been on any of the past 3 albums.  I say that because I kind of group the past 3 albums together -- each has its own personality and sound, but they sound like a completely different band from the one that brought us The Bends and Ok Computer.

So, this new album kind of sounds like B-sides for any of those albums.  Or, if not B-sides, tracks that would have been great a few years ago, but now sound stale coming from the same band.

Again, enjoyable, just disappointing.  Time for Radiohead to do something totally different.  A number of years ago, I read a review of Hail to the Thief where the reviewer talks about the music Radiohead made "before the computers ate Tom Yorke."  Well, maybe it's time for them to lose those computers altogether and go back to their roots.  See if they can reinvent themselves yet again.
