Did he think that the police knew nothing about hostage negotiation?
Why did he think that the religious nut would kill the girl if the did not jump?

(click to show/hide)At the end of the movie, Marty jumps back to 1985 on the train tracks, and slowly rolls past an intersection full of confused people, who gawk at the delorian-on-train-wheels. Seconds later, an oncoming train smashes the delorian to little bits, as Marty jumps out at the last second.
...the train just keeps on going, and none of the passers by think enough of it to get out of their cars or even stop.

Die Hard 2: Die Harder. The entire movie's plot is based on terrorists taking over Dulles International Airport and holding an entire region's worth of aircraft hostage by not allowing them to land. Of course, this completely ignores the fac that there are, like, a dozen other airports in the Washington/Baltimore area to divert to.
