Yeah, we're going through that too. Going on four days without sleep.

The boy has picked up a bit of a cold, which means his nose has gone into overdrive. In order to wipe the green gunk off his face, I need a pair of hands to hold him still, another pair of hands to keep his hands away from his face, another pair to stop him twisting his head away from me and one hand to wipe.

I'm short of several hands.

Same boat here.
My little one won't let us wash her face, clean her nose, wipe food off her hands without a big protest.
We don't want to associate any of these with a bad experience, but we can't let her run around like she's from lord of the flies either.

We've had a few really sweet moments of late.
She'll finish her breakfast, then get up with her bowl and beg like Oliver. "Mo Bekast Peesh"
I can't say no to that.  :lovewcc:

Better than what happened to us, Kid: "What are you doing?", Spouse roles off bed onto floor, Me: "Um, we were wrestling."

Last night the kindergartener flung himself to the bed and declared that he hated Justin Beaver. He's been hanging out with the big kids at lunch, I guess. It does retroactively confirm that I did in fact hear him and the four-year-old shouting "Obama! Obama!" during their running around and jumping game (I figured they were saying something else.) Probably learned it from the same kid. We certainly don't talk like that at home.

Public schools. Bah!

What kind of an idiot names a no-kids restaurant "Sprout"? Does the dipstick not know the child rearing connotations of the word? Does he also have a vegan restaurant named "The BBQ shack"?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that was stupid.

Elder daughter is slowly, slowly becoming verbal. My sister-in-law has been coaching her to say "faster" (Danish for paternal aunt) since she was in the womb. Dagmar started saying "dada" before a year. All the grandparents came next "mimi" "farfar" "dad" (instead of grandad) and "mor" (instead of farmor). At 2 years, she started saying "mama", and then she started calling my brother-in-law "pandekage" (pancake) for reasons unknown to anyone. Still no name for Faster. Finally at 2.5, she gave Faster a name: "Hundly"… a.k.a. the dog from Curious George.

Oh, to understand the inner workings of her mind!

My youngest (5) is very caught up in Easter this year.  Her baby sitter got her into the idea and it's been reinforced with all the crap at the commissary and PX.  Tonight she was talking about jelly beans.  I said, "What is Easter?"  She said, "It's for people to fill eggs and hide them in the bushes for kids to find." with this "duh mom!" voice.  I admit I broke down and bought another second hand basket from the thrift store and some peeps and chocolates to go in them.  But I can't find any darned plastic eggs!

For some reason, I find it hard to get kisses from the boy. He'll give his Mum a kiss (well, open mouthed suck on the cheek, but its a kiss for us), the child minder gets a kiss.

Me? He bites my nose.

Not hard, just a touch of the teeth. I am kinda worried that one day he will sink his teeth in, but he doesn't seem like he wants to. It's just his way of saying 'Hi' to me.

Not sure if this is cute, or worrying.

We have to trick our little girl into giving us a kiss.

"ow ow, I hurt my cheek, who will kiss it better?"

But this morning before leaving for work, she said "I love you" back to me when I kissed her goodbye for the day :D

This pic is over a year old but I still love it. Bean had just gotten out of bed and hubs was leaving for work so she *RAN* to get a kiss in before it was too late.

When my son was an infant one of the most sure fire ways of calming him down was to sing the following song:

MST3K Pants Tribute

But it only worked when I did it.

The song fell out of use for close to a year, when suddenly a couple of months ago Caleb looked up at me, smiled and sang "pants, pants, pants, pants."

We proceeded to go through the whole song as best as we could both remember it.

So what's the PC/polite term for the phrase sitting "Indian style"?
