Points starting Round 14
    * DG              -15
    * le mig          -45
    * danquixote -25
    * JPM             -65

Points after Round 14
    * DG              -15
    * le mig          -0
    * danquixote -25
    * JPM             -20

Lets see if we can't finish this game in a couple of days.

Points after Round 14
    * DG              -15
    * danquixote -0
    * JPM             -0

And with that, DG wins! Good job coming from behind there.

All the actions are here.

Well thats that. I learned some things in the process and i think it was a pretty good game.

I'd love it if someone else would run one next so I can play. :P
IRC is a rather good option too, but we'd have to work out the time zone differences.

If we get another game going I am happy to moderate, assuming it's not too live consuming, which I assume it isn't.  How long does it take to compile points each round, 30 minutes?

A bit less than that. I kept a document that I updated with everyones actions as they were sent in. When the deadline hit (or everyone had sent in their actions) I just tallied up the numbers and posted to the thread. You can see my layout in the google doc I posted. It'll take slightly longer to post the actions each round, but not that much.
If you want add powers that might add a little more time to it. Especially the bidding round.

Yeah I did have a look at your google doc, looks pretty straight forward.  Posting actions I don't really would take that much longer either, since you're essentially posting that rounds table from the google doc (obviously just changing the layout for the forum).

I don't think I could run a game with powers at this point, this was my first game.  But if people want to get another vanilla game going, more then happy to run it.

I'll post in the Mafia HQ thread to see if people (same or different) want to start a new game.

It was quite good fun - I don't know that I could get away with that a second time ;)

I might sit out the next one.

Yes, you obviously played a dastardly good game there at the end.

If we do this again, then can I suggest:

1) Have the power / bidding round.

2) Reveal everyones actions publicly, so that there's more interest and diplomacy (unless of course they have a power that hides their actions.)

3) Force people to discuss things only publicly on the boards (unless of course they have a power that allows them to discuss things elsewhere.)

4) Have all deadlines be 3 days, with a Saturday + Sunday counting as 1 day (unless of course somebody has a power that allows them to manipulate the deadline.)

I think these things would make the game more fun.

EDIT -

Oh and congrats DG!

I'm not sure 3. would work. The whole point of the game is plotting behind everyones backs. Doing it in the open will change that game to something else entirely.

I had some of you saying deadlines should be shorter and some saying they should be longer. Which is it? I tried to have 48 hour deadlines through the week and 72 hour deadlines over the weekend.

It would kind of be Mafia at that point.

Hm.... That's a good idea, actually.

It's actually the powers and bidding round that make mafia so awesome.  This game probably suffered from neglect by players due to their absence.

Says you. I was in the middle of a very fine plot when I was so rudely butchered. spat was amused, at least. I think I was asking two players to attack someone, while pledging to attack for the same amount, but I defended heavily instead. Nothing exciting happened that round, so I basically kamikaze'd the next round. And died. :P

I know, I organized the attack that killed you.  And I died then too, but I didn't find out until two rounds later...
