At the suggestion of our venerable admin leadcarbonate, I'm making this thread to organize all of the project discussion and showing off for the SGU Minecraft Server into one area.
I think organizing all of the public and private builds will help make our already awesome community even better and allow non-minecrafters here know what we are doing.
This thread will serve three basic functions: showing off completed projects and works in progress, deciding on and suggesting public projects, and recruiting help and material donations.
I'll keep this first post up to date with links and the latest information so you don't have to dig through the thread to find what you need. I'll post the most recent information at the top of it's section.

Project Discussion

Feel free to suggest/debate any ideas you have for public projects or just post whatever you're working on and I'll post it here.
I'll also post a map of where the public projects under construction are once we have a few on the way.

Public Project Suggestions

Town Spawnpoint
-Discussion begins on page 10
-Link to the current plan

Rail System
-South and North lines completed
-Will work on Eastern Line next
-Each line will have a distinct bridge and tunnel style

Mount Skeptic
-Need to find a suitable location
-Build the likeness of some skeptical heroes mount rushmore style?
-Initial scale/detail test on page 3 and 4
-A 3d head out of smoothstone at ~60 pixels is not very recognizable
-A 2d image of the same size made out of 4 colours is fairly recognizable
-I suggest we stay away from wool as much as possible b/c its extremely hard to get the amounts necessary

Landscape Repair

-Repair/Burn any floating trees you find (trees with the stump cut out but the top remains
-Take down any "noob towers" you find (tall one block towers). It's okay to make them for a temporary purpose, but please take it down when you are done.

Help Wanted / Materials Required

-Any spare materials can be donated to the Construction Commons beside Fort Spawnpoint at [-342, 71, 39]

The scale solar system model is a work in progress found in the vicinity of X/Z=600/-200.  Cobble stand-ins for the large planets are almost done--just wrapping up Saturn's rings and the top levels of Jupiter.  After that, I will start replacing cobble with scarcer materials for color.  I haven't designed yet what all the materials will be, but they'll include things like stone, sandstone, light gray wool, yellow wool, and blue and cyan wool.  I will post the needed materials once I've determined them.

People can donate materials at my room in the SGU commune (just one time round the spiral staircase down from the minecart station, Y=70 or so).  There are chests in my room for materials for each planet.  I will post signs listing the needed materials, though I haven't done that yet.

Also, once I start replacing the cobble stand-ins with colored materials, I will have LOTS of cobble to donate, so I will plan on donating that to the coliseum, or whatever projects need it.

It's not done yet, or named, but that red building west of the center for lavaology is mine. Brick surrounded by a lava moat with a drawbridge, an outer spiderproof wall and soon to have a 25 block deep pit all the way around the edges (since mobs liked to hide, shaded under the lip of the wall). Unassailable by mobs or (with adventure mode rules) players.
