I have the area outlined - I need all of the air blocks from sea level up to 71 turned into dirt.  A few hills will stick up above, but that's okay as they will seed in the grass.  If the hills are in the park area I'll incorporate them into the design.  Here are the coordinates of the four corners:

___________ N

-379___________________ -29
71_____________________ 71
-378___________________ -378

W______________________ E

-379___________________ -29
71_____________________ 71
-27____________________ -27

____________ S

That's about 350 blocks on a side, which is 10 more than I need which should make it easier for me to blend the edge in with the landscape.  My first job will be to light everything up with a torch grid so that I can work safely through the night.  I will be building a giant sequoia in the very center of the park.  There will be a room inside the base of the tree in which will be the portal - which will be the only way in or out of the city.  I'll post reminders not to remove anything.  I'll also build a petition board where players can ask Loki for materials to build things.  Most of the city should be visible from the giant sequoia, though of course the top will be too high to see the ground - there will be small observation platforms on lower branches.

I would also like to ask Loki if I could have several stacks of redwood/rainforest logs - a full double chest even, as that sequoia is going to take a lot and I really don't want to chop down the rainforest :)

No materials used in the city will be taken out into the rest of the map.

OK, we'll see how we go...

1.4 Million blocks converted to dirt! With an overlay of grass

OK there is a bit of tidying up around where some of the trees were, the overlay of grass went over the tree tops.

Remember to collect the leaves with shears for the fake tree, or let me know if you run out.
Or if you want a pile of saplings to plant on dirt blocks and some bone meal to make them grow let me know. (Quick way to make fake trees with all their leaves attached.)

The sequoia is about half way done and I am out of jungle wood.  Any chance Loki could grant me another double chest full?  I am making the tree roughly to scale with the largest known examples - 17 meters wide and over 100 meters tall.  It is taking a lot of wood!

Thanks!  You can almost see the tree from the border of the city.  This place will be huge when done - I can't wait to see it when other people start building there.

Any ideas on how the grid will be marked out? Colored wool in the ground?

Each zone will be surrounded by a two block thick border of grass and a sidewalk.  Inside of the sidewalk I may line it with a one block border of wool to mark the zone type, which the builder can get rid of if they want.  I am also going to set up an address system.  Each zone will have an address pillar with a sign stating the address.  I may just make the pillar out of a material to mark the zone type - gold for the zones I marked in yellow,  lapis for blue and redstone nether brick for red (or maybe diamond, just because I like that better than redstone).  I want the zone markings to be minimal so that they don't interfere with the builds but are still visible if you look for them.  The more I think of it the more sense the address pillars make sense (only two blocks high btw).

Okay, Skeptiville is now open for it's first five residents.  Meeyola has taken slot 5, so that leaves 4 more.  Here is a current map of the city.  Only the North East quadrant is complete:

There is a portal in the center, inside the giant sequoia.  It links to an identical portal on Gliese_581d, just outside of AB's inverted pyramid castle thing.  This is a temporary location - we will be off of AB's lawn as soon as we get a permanent location.  Zytheran is working out some kinks in the permissions for the portal system - the portal won't work for everyone (myself included).  If you want to take the long way go to Nemoris Crux, coordinates X: -203, z: -203.  Make sure to note that those are NEGATIVE numbers :P.  Those coordinates are for the center of the city - you will reach the edge before then.  If you happen to come from the north or east where the exterior wall is complete look for the center of the wall - there is a tunnel and minecart line leading to the city heart there.

If you are interested you can claim a spot here.  There will eventually be 20 spots, but for now there are only 5 so if you aren't going to be active for a while you may want to leave the current spots for people who are.

There are a few rules that must be observed in Skeptiville regarding import/export restrictions and building restrictions.

The building restrictions are simple:  Each resident gets three plots.  The only restrictions involve build height and staying inside the borders of the plot.  The grass easements between the sidewalk and street are off limits with the exception of flowers.  Trees have a bad habit of damaging the street lights.  The 16 x 16 plots, marked in blue, have no build height restrictions.  The 24 x 24 plots, marked in red, have a build limit of 192.  The 32 x 32 plots, marked in yellow, have a build limit of 128.  This gives the city a rough profile like this:

Of course, you don't have to build to the maximum limit :)

As to import/export restrictions;  nothing brought into Skeptiville may be brought out again.  Obviously the occasional loaf of bread isn't really a problem.  It is more the double chest of diamond blocks you requested from Loki - they have to stay in the city.  No one will police this - we're still using the honor system.  I trust you!  Don't break my heart!

Now, as to imports;  you may bring anything in from anywhere that allows export.  Right now that is limited to the two Gliese maps (and their associated Nether maps).  This means you can't bring anything into Skeptiville from the rest of Nemoris Crux.  Again, I don't think anyone is worried about a loaf of bread or stone pick axe;  use your judgement.  Completed CTM maps are also open to export, but as of now only to Skeptiville as some players are concerned that the rich resources of CTM maps would unbalance normal free trade worlds such as Gliese d and g.  If you have any hidden caches of contraband from SHIS2 or Kaizo Caverns this is one place you can take them.

There is a chest of goodies located on the inner blue plots to get you started.  They contain wood, torches, cobble, dirt, saplings, and wheat seeds.  There are wheat fields located in the central canal, as well as animal pens located beneath the tree farms.

Big thanks to MA for the work put into this! That last image does not do justice to how friggin' huge that central tree is.
A tree that was built by hand... :wth:

BTW I'll have another look at seeing if they have updated the mapping software.
