I've always thought Chrono Trigger had some of the best music for its time:

Secret of the Forrest is my personal favorite from that game:

Love the music from both ChronoTrigger and Final Fantasy III (VI):

Ok.  Listened to it now.  All-in-all it was pretty good though I was a little disappointed that some of the arrangements were ripped completely from Play! A Video Game Symphony.  Definitely worth 3 bucks at least.

Donkey Kong Country

Nice. My favorite SNES game by far.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned:

 :P

Seriously, the theme song for Civ IV is great as well:

Also, FFVII was already mentioned with Cosmo Canyon (fucking awesome), but I also loved the battle music:

Actually, pretty much the whole FFVII soundtrack.
Behold, God's Son is come unto this land, Of heaven's hot splendour lit to life, when she Of Thebes, even I, Dionysus, whom the brand Who bore me, Cadmus' daughter Semele, Died here. So, changed in shape from God to man... to show me in men's sight - Manifest God.

Sniff. So cheesy, yet so great. By the by, the text is actually the Lord's Prayer in Swahili. Not holding that against it, though ;)

Yeah, that was a great one.

This is stretching the definition of video game music, but Christopher Tin went on to make an album around the style and concepts from Baba Yety.  I particularly liked:

And as long as I'm flagrantly stretching the purpose of the thread, there's been a couple fan songs derived from Skyrim I've enjoyed.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I love them all, but Fairy Fountains and Song of Storms are my favorites. Here's a really cool video of a pianist doing a medley of Zelda
songs:

Assassin's Creed II

Ezio's Family

Earth

I think these are absolutely beautiful.

Wow. Great thread revive. Here's a few.

Rob Hubbard did some great work with the C64. Here's my favourite. I especially like that the song includes both a guitar and a fiddle solo, and how one track's instrument changes in the bridge. A masterwork of 8-bit music.

Special mention also to this one - the music was good, the game was fun as hell.

Now, away from the C64.

I have the album by the London Philharmonic (both albums, in fact) and there's one track from one of my favourite game franchises. I hear the opening sequence in 7, and I just get that chill, you know?
