ORIGINAL POST:
I'm wondering if any skeptics (including the SGU crew) are planning to play SWTOR? If there's enough of us, perhaps we can form a guild and play and socialize with other like minded people. As a community, this can help us to get to know each other better.

I've started guilds and joined guilds in the past for other games. There always seems to be a level of immaturity (it's a video game afterall) and/or lack of common interests (besides the game itself) for the friendships to have any kind of longevity. Some games are better about creating lasting online friendships than others. I have a few international friends just from meeting them through MMOs. I've even hung out with a few of them in person.

I think a skeptics guild could be fun for it's members both in game and out, especially when we get together at TAM (which was amazing this year), skeptics in the pub meetings, and other skeptic/science/free-thinker events. At 38, I prefer to build lasting friendships with the people I play with in order to make the massive time commitment it takes to play MMOs worthwhile.

If interested, let me know and we can see if we have enough to justify adding yet another guild to the growing list of guilds out there, as well as justify setting up a website and ventrilo server. Or maybe there's a similar MMORPG guild out there already playing WOW or some other game, and plans to play SWTOR, that we could join. Let me know.

Phil

I'd be interested.  Not sure if I'm going to get the game yet, waiting for reviews.

Unless it sucks, my wife, daughter and I will be playing and probably two of my co-workers that we play Rift with will join too. I'd be interested in an SGU/Skeptics guild.

It's temping but can't add anther monthly fee at the moment. I may drop WOW as I don't play all that much any more but am not quite ready to do that yet.

I already preordered.  So I'll be in on the fun.  Sith?  I already have "Dark Atheist" saved as my account name (yep, uberdork).

I'm waiting for the Non-Disclosure Agreement to lift before I decide if it's worth buying.

Hopefully this won't focus too much on raiding and gear farming.

If I start playing it then I will probably try to start a new guild on the European servers.

It sucks that all the NDA lets testers say is that there is a Beta and they are in it.

There was a beta weekend last weekend, and I was in it.

I guess that's all I can say about SW:TOR, officially.

Oh, and not related to SW:TOR, last weekend was incredibly fun and there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'm going to spend a lot more time doing the same thing I was doing then. No lie, no exaggeration it was *awesome*.

I mean, sure, no weekend doesn't have a few flaws but they were minor and with time they'll get figured out. But the core of my weekend was engaging and fun and gorgeous and large-problem-free.

I played the beta weekend squadron 367. It was great. Can't wait for the game to come out. Unfortunately, I don't see enough interest in this thread to start a "skeptics" guild yet. For those who have responded, how many people, including yourself, could you convince to join such a guild? I know 5-10 who might join.

My wife, 2 coworkers and me for sure and 3 others (my ex, her boyfriend and my daughter) are a maybe. So that's 4 - 7.

I've been dying to write a review thread, but I want to honor my agreement. Let me just say per-order now. The class quests alone are worth the $60 dollar price of admission.

As far as guild server and coordination goes, I prefer PVP or RP-PVP servers myself. And, I'm in California (PST, GMT -0800), but my schedule is fairly flexible and can participate in raids for almost any time zone.

What kind of server do you prefer? PVP, PVE, RP-PVP, or RP-PVE?

What time zone are you in and what days/times are best for you to raid?
