My new baby:

It's a CIJ Jazzmaster, P-Series, so ca. 1999-2002. Plays very nicely, but I think I'll swap out the pickups for something that sounds more Jazzmaster-y. At least the bridge pickup, which is currently basically unusable IMO. I'm also trying to find a tort pickguard for it, which is turning out to be more difficult than I had anticipated. Either I can find classic (brownish) tort guards for the American Vintage Reissue version, or red tort guards for the CIJ. Red tort would be too much red, but I think a good looking classic tort would look snazzy with the rosewood fingerboard. I've been looking everywhere, but so far I've only found some custom pickguard makers that would do it. The bridge needs a bit of work, but I'll probably wait until I have the new pups before I mess with it too much. Really only the low E is giving me any trouble, I think it will be fine if I raise it up a bit and perhaps file the saddle very lightly. Price was good enough for this neck of the woods. So far I'm very happy.

Now I just need an amp. I'm going to go test a Fender Super Champ XD sometime this week; I've only heard great things about them, and the price is great. Anybody here have any experience with them?

My Fender experience:

One of the best quality to price ratios out there......It's got the MIM Fender precision bass neck, and is a Fender, not a Squier.......but, you know...it's a bass.....
Well.  There it is.

That is one beautiful git-fiddle alright. Careful with the filing though, one-way street there...

It so happens the local Guitar Center has a sale on this very amp ($169). I really could use a new amp, and this one looks like a lot of bang for the buck. I may swing by there this weekend and try it out.

Nice Jazzmaster.
What's wrong with the bridge?

I have one of these in the post. Will probably take two weeks, but I've also had stuff arrive in just a few days from the USA.
Unbelievably it would cost more than double if I wanted to buy from a local seller!

So, finding a brown tort pickguard for my CIJ Jazzmaster is turning out to be more difficult that I thought it would be. At this point it looks like I'm going to have to custom order one. I'm a bit worried about the color. I've seen a few rather ugly ones in the past, and trying to judge the color from a pic on a website is a fool's errand. Anybody have any experience with ordering a brown tort guard, or any leads on where I might find an old brown guard from a CIJ Jazzy? Unfortunately it seems that the holes from the the other series don't match up, and I don't think I want to fill and redrill.

I'm in awe of the instruments on this page, especially the red jazzmaster.

Also, I kinda badmouthed my own CIJ strat, but she does have redeeming qualities. Namely, it's the most precise instrument I've had, it stays in tune even after some quite heavy banging. The neck is very comfortable and is perfectly adjusted, I can play chords all along it and they all sound fine. I was looking for a reliable and versatile instrument, I think I got it.
they took my reef tank away :'(

The resonator (above) turned up yesterday.
Was easy to play out of the box, but not the kind of guitar you want to lug around for long distances.
I carried mine 6km -+ 100m yesterday. Hands be rather sore.

Acoustically it is very loud and has a great tone, plugged into my Fender Princeton and OMC (Oh my Carl) the tone is unbelievable!

Will blog and add lots of pics later.

Oh and it's a fingerprint magnet!

Just picked up this late 70's (?) Japanese (?) Alembic copy for a song:

Hard to find any info on it.

Sooo....my boyfriend is looking to sell one of his guitars he never plays.  If anyone is interested...$500, including case and stand.  Other offers will be entertained.  Or if you have any other feedback, that would be great.  He's selling this guitar to get software on his mac for his electric.  I don't know shit about guitars.

"
This trusty Seagull S6 CW acoustic electric guitar has been with me through thick and thin! I'm including the hardshell case, stand (not pictured), and leather strap, so this is a really good deal. It's been well taken care of, though there are a few minor blemishes (see the photographs). I would love to see it in the hands of someone who will love it as much as I did, and play it even better. Every time I take it out of the case and smell the wonderful cedar wood I fall in love, and I know you will too! "

Does the cat cost extra?

If you ask him, no, he'll just ship him in the case with the guitar.

I have a different opinion.
