Tonight's episode was breathtakingly hilarious.

I was a doubter til my roommates showed me the alternate timelines one and Paintball back-to-back. Now I can't get enough.
Tonight's was good cos they finally found something interesting for Shirley to do!

I watch it on Hulu so I'm about a week behind but it's the only show I won't miss an episode of.  Looking forward to this one.

I started watching this show because people here mentioned it was good.  After the first 3 episodes of the 1st season, I've got say... it is pretty lame so far!  Sophmoric humor, shallow characters, poorly-presented clichés...

When and in what ways does in get better?

Sophmoric humor, shallow characters, poorly-presented clichés...

Of these 3 things I think the first is actually a plus (matter of taste), the second isn't true (some episodes are surprisingly deep) and the third is intentionally so.

The character thing is the one I can most easily imagine improving over time.

The other two... your right, the first is a matter of taste, I just didn't think that that particular taste would be very widespread here.  As for the clichés, if they are trying to do an ironic thing, I hope they get better at it.  Using clichéd tropes ironically usually only works when that is not the whole point.

In any case, I'll go back to my studio now and put on a few more episodes while a work, perhaps it will grow on me...

As to the humor, Community has the greatest exchange in the entire history of sitcomia:

1: Bitter much?
2: Say much much?
1: Say 'say much much' much?

That would have been hilarious in 1999!  ;)

One of my favorite episodes ever is the flashback episode, but you won't get the biggest joke unless you know a little about how television shows are made and have watched every prior episode of Community.

I am like 95% sure which character's said those lines, from the dialogue alone.  Thats what happens when you have good writing.

My favorite is probably A ed's Christmas special, but man... that one where they pilot the fried chicken spaceship is pretty awesome too.
