yeah, vechs often puts nether content in his maps.  building your own portal could break the network he has set up.

Only after it gets used once.  I just built it to test whether the specific nether portal I found was broken, or the nether in general.

It doesn't work, don't use it after Zyth fixes the Nether.

hmm, my post from earlier didn't appear.

Anyway, I cant see why this wouldn't work..apart from the fact the map is built in a non-standard way. ???
Usually Nether worlds are seperate maps, eg. gliese_581d_nether is the matching map for gliese_581d.
However in this world was is only one world, which had some duplicated regions, presumably some were for nether and the rest  for the normal world. I have no idea how this would normally work.

Can you give me the details of the in-map portal and where it is, by pm if you don't want the others to see.

hmm, can't seem to find the nether regions..(<-free target of people's jest, fire away.)
pm sent to Vechs to see if there is something odd.

OK, I think there is something wrong with our map.
After watching various videos of this part of the map, running the cartograph software to make a map of the overworld and the nether and then going there in god mode I'd say something is broken. The portal simply doesn't work and I don't know why.
The portal back in gliese_581d is working fine and there aren't separate settings for using the Nether on a per world basis.
The other weird thing is that the map showed a region spawned off the normal map way off to one side and it's not part of the mission so I don't why why it's there.
I'll load a new copy onto my server and check it out in admin mode to see what happens and compare files that get made.

Same problem with a fresh install on my own server and all the latest patches. Nether portal on SHIS2 simply doesn't work.
I'd say that some combination of Multiverse and something else is breaking it. There is no error in the logs either. ???

Declare a winner and start a different map, then?

That's a valid option I think. There is the whole sunk cost thing happening of just spending a bit more time and I'm sure it will become obvious...however it's not. There are many of these maps and even at one per fortnight we have plenty of gaming to do.
People can always do the whole thing in single player mode to practice the skills needed.
So yep, You're the winner...although you were simply damn lucky to go to the ghost town early!
I'll look at getting another challenge map loaded.

Yay!  If you find one, can you do like a scheduled start, at least a few hours in advance?  The last one was tons of fun, but most fun when there were a bunch of us on at the same time competing and working together.

OK, what timezone would be best and when are most people on? I guess students might be on holiday now but some of us work. I'll see what I can do however I'm at +9 1/2 which means I need to enable a new map in the middle of the day for USA the night before. If I aim for say 2100 eastern time?

No, others who didn't even attempt it get -100.
Spoils, please leave them behind on the challenge map, nothing in and nothing out.
When leaving for the last time I'd suggest leaping to your death first to clean your inventory.  ;D

Aw, I was hoping we would have a few days to raid the map of resources once the monument was complete :(  My understanding of the import/export embargo was to make sure no one had an advantage going in, or made the map more difficult by taking things out.  I could build some cool things with my stacks of iron, gold and diamond blocks :(

Also, I'm voting for Sea of Flames II 2.0, or maybe Canopy Carnage.  Or, there is this:

Vechs Fails at Mini Hostile 01 Ragequit Holidays (V009)

But I think that would be a bit much :P
