Deleted Facebook Account Permanently

So the new "timeline" feature made it so every deleted post I had made, or that anyone had ever made on my wall, etc, was brought back.  This means that Facebook NEVER actually deletes any info (just hides it from me seeing it) and that they are making an automatic update that brings back all that deleted stuff.  This was the final straw, and I'm not longer on Facebook.

Do you have a source for that? Everything I've read says that, yes old posts are coming back, but only old posts that would be visible anyway to anyone who clicked enough links.

The source is my own profile, where I saw deleted posts come back when I made the switch to timeline.

Weird. I'll watch out for that, then. Although, I can't remember if I've ever deleted a post, to be honest.

Everytime facebook does something like this I consider deleting my account, but there are a couple of things facebook does really well that make me put up with all the other crap.

Maybe the solution would be to delete my profile, and then start a new one just for the event invites and photosharing.

so, if it said you posted a comment on a board, and you deleted it from your profile, but someone was able to click around and find your post on the board, back when they had boards/groups/etc., then that auto-announcement of your activity would be restored to your page?

or to just use a fake name and not share anything private? and maybe to decorate your page weirdly, and, . wait. is myspace still working? lol

I miss MySpace in that it was far and away my longest blog related endeavor ever. Some of my posts were MASSIVE. Sadly Facebook puts a premium on brevity, and also it's way more popular so I can't possibly post all the same stuff I did (for ex, one of my favorite posts was about a fellow HS classmates massive bazongas).

if Twitter is the present, just think how bad the future will be ...soon you'll only get to madlib in your choice of keywords from preset phrases, and comments will be replaced with a like or dislike youtube button.

Some of this might be thinking that the [ x ] symbol in messages meant delete, which is what i thought. However all it actually does is move the messages to the archive. In the messages section now there is a delete option in the action pull down. However IMHO Facebook are still making it really obscure so you can't easily delete stuff. I have no idea what their true motive is apart from being total dicks.

Hey wow, [ x ] without the spaces turns into a

Treat Facebook as a public forum and don't post anything you wouldn't yell while sitting at your front door or wouldn't write to the local newspaper with your name attached to it.  Or delete your profile, I know several people who have.  Its a useful thing though.   :-\

I do that.

I've made the mistake, though, of forgetting that most people are emotional children who want to become violent over abstract disagreements.

I find the "unfriend" button is really excellent at solving that problem.
Well.  There it is.
