Is this book OK?
« on: Jan 23, 2012, 01:02:24 PM »
Hi,

I often find books on Nook  that are free and claiming to be scientific, so I wanna buy them and read. As I dont know about scientists and on net I can find bunch of stuff about everyone [positive, negative] I really can't say if they are worth reading - i mean to get real science not some shit

right now, there's a free book:

Lies, Damned Lies, and Science: How to Sort through the Noise Around Global Warming, the Latest Health Claims, and Other Scientific Controversies [NOOK Book]
    by
    Sherry Seethaler

Anyone know this author ? Should I read it, or better delete the book?

A quick look around seems to indicate that the book is on the level.  Hell, it's free.  Download it and report back.  I just grabbed it for my Nook.   :)

Please do.  You are familiar, I'm guessing, with Free Friday?  It's usually mainstream fiction, but you can't beat the price.  :)

Read it.  I mean, why not?
I read all sorts of books whether I agree with them or not.
Reading is never a bad thing, as long as you don't let it steer you in a wrong direction with influence.
You don't have to believe in it to discover someone's opinion on certain topics.

Yep, free friday is fine, depends what they put  ;]

Reading everythin is sometimes hard, as I don't  know much about some topics, so I guess reading one, not objective book could make bad to me

I should have also added...you don't have to finish it if you simply don't agree.
I mean, I don't think I could get through 3 pages of a Sylvia Browne book but reading it might just solidify my theory that she is WACKO.
