Ever get odd movies from Netflix?
« on: Feb 04, 2012, 09:59:40 AM »
Do you ever receive movies from Netflix and figure, “Where the hell did THIS come from?”

Yesterday, we got a movie called “Off the Charts: The Song-Poem Story.” I guess it’s a documentary about people who answered ads in the back of magazines looking for songwriters. The thing is, I never requested this film, and my wife denies ever hearing of it, either. This has happened before. Sometimes, it seems as though Netflix just sends us random movies, like their algorithm decides, “I just KNOW they’ll love this one!”

Have you ever gotten something odd from Netflix?
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

It happened to my dad every once in a while, but not to me and we each had Netflix accounts for a few years.  There didn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to the titles he would get, and most of them he would just dump right back into the mail.  Netflix support never gave him a reason why it was happening.

Haven't seen it yet. Probably try it tonight. I will report.

Penn Jillette is a big song poem fan. He talked about it on the Nerdist podcast. I'm interested to hear how the movie turns out. And no, Netflix has never sent me a DVD that wasn't in my queue.

We watched it, and while it was interesting for a little while, it got boring halfway through and we did not finish the thing.

No, but I did get a neighbors mail by mistake one day, including his DVD of Ass Juicers 2 or some such.

That's funny! Did you take it back to them, and say, "Here's your Ass Juicer movie"?

Yea I didn't say anything other than "I accidentally got your mail". It was a woman. Edit: that I handed the mail to. I didn't want to be vulgar, and I was pretty sure it was for the man.
