Woman escapes extreme Jewish community

Quote

Until two years ago, Feldman was part of the ultra-conservative Hasidic Satmar community based in Williamsburg. Abandoned by a mother who left the faith and a father who was mentally disabled, she was taken in by her grandparents, who brought her up to be a quiet, obedient, God-fearing woman who would get married in her teens and start a large family right away.

But Feldman had other plans.

Was PM a Jewish person on another board. . . .He is an Orthodox (although not at the extreme level) and he seems to feel this needs to be solved inside the Jewish community.

Hear that a lot as an excuse to  do nothing however

Dear New York Post:

This is under the "entertainment" section.  Why, exactly?

Ultra-Orthodox Jews are allowed to get away with some ridiculous stuff. Probably because there's so few of them and they tend to keep their craziness well within their won tight-knit communities.

Or because they own the world and bake Christian children's blood into pastries.
There's, another example. See, here I'm now sitting by myself, uh, er, talking to myself. That's, that's chaos.

Dear New York Post:

She was not Muslim or a Scientologist.

I actually think that it is because she wrote a book about the experience and the article is meant as a book review of sorts.

(I have to go take a shower now that I defended the Post :( )

I also looked her up on other sources and appears to be her real story

I hope that my comment didn't imply that I thought that her book was fictional in any way.  I simply meant that it was put in the "entertainment" section because the story was about a book.

She is friends with Joshie Berger so I have been hearing quite a bit about her as of late.

When I was discussing with the Jewish person via PM, one of his arguments was that you cannot take the Post at face value
Not disputing that but it does appear to be accurate in this case

I posted about this on my facebook.  I have friends across the full spectrum of Jewish practice so I tried as best as I could to be inoffensive.  I attempted to make the point that even within religious Jewish practice, there is no room to deny women basic human rights to choose their own destiny.

Nothing gives anyone the right to take away a person's human rights.  Just pisses me off.

People seem to somewhat enjoy partaking in stereotyped roles.  So the majority of women in this situation just go with it.  Just like the men go with it, except the women get the short end of the stick by far.

She couldn't handle complaining about a draft in every restaurant.
common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I think he was stereotyping.
