Doctors "firing" patients who refuse vaccinations
« on: Feb 16, 2012, 12:39:10 PM »
Pediatricians are sending away parents who decline vaccinations for their children.  It makes sense to me - vaccinations are such a large part of pediatric medicine, that if parents refuse the most effective preventative method we have, they're basically just wasting the doctor's time.

The story was covered on the Wall Street Journal and made it to the front page of Slashdot, so a lot of people will probably see it.

Good.  >:D If people don't want to engage in modern medicine, the acupuncture ward is down the hall. I wish there was a way you could not punish the children for the sins of the parents but at the same time all it takes is one kid with whooping cough to wipe out the lives of several newborn babies.

Kaiser offers free vaccinations when you have your regular office visits. I got the dreaded autism vaccine last visit.

As the mother of a very early preemie who was vulnerable to all kinds of problems she could have caught before she could be vaccinated--yet had to be taken to the pediatrician's office often during those dreadful months--I thank these doctors. I hope they explain why they are "firing" them and try to talk patients into vaccines and provide a waiting room for "well" children who are just there for follow-up or vaccines. They shouldn't be mingling with the kids with fevers and coughs. I wonder how many mothers just don't want to take their babies to that kind of waiting room?

She has a botox appointment today, she is busy.

Curious, is this a case where in the modern environment that Oprah has done more damage than religion?

Eh, as I see it, those who refuse western medicine and vaccinations will eventually shrink in number, as selection pressures favour those who will actually do something useful to continue living.

This assumes  a number of things that are probably false assumptions, but let me live in my delusion.

Except their reproduction strategy is to produce large numbers of offspring.

You can't sue the Doctor either.  Even if it's a bad batch, a contaminated batch, or the wrong vaccine, parent's can't sue even if their child dies, or is crippled for life. (lets assume that these rare but inevitable happenings are the only damage)

If it is due to a vaccine.

Scanned the AoA for their reaction to this.  Pretty much what you would expect, the doctors are just part of the conspiracy.

So even after a doctor sits you down and says: "Unless you say yes to the vaccinations, you are no longer welcome here and I don't want your custom." - people still say no? Good grief. I'm sorry for children with such parents. Not just misinformed about vaccinations, but lacking in a few other areas as well.
