[NBC] Awake

<< < (9/10) > >>

Strudel:
A few plot holes starting to poke through, like why did the framed guy only attempt an escape in the one universe? Was universe B's dialysis nurse not as sympathetic or seomthing, did he even have kidney disease...
I know that's missing the point and taking the time to explain it would be pointless but it still bugs me.

Other than that they're really using the device well, rather than turning it into Super Cop Drama #348

Neutral Milk:
So up through episode 10 we've got a standard cop drama with a twist. I still enjoy what they've done with the show, and other than some characters (mostly one-off side characters) who couldn't act their way out of a wet paper bag it's a really well produced show.

Now with episode 11 things have changed. Still a cop drama, but twistier, and gives me greater hope for the future of the show. It's a really fun episode. If you've given up on the show you can probably just watch the "previously on" and have enough information to catch up on the relevant plot points that have occurred.

Here are the few relevant facts from episodes 2-10:

(click to show/hide)-Chief has conversation with someone on the phone about how the accident was supposed to fix a problem.
-Wife gets accepted into a college in Oregon.
-Main character resigns to move to Oregon, and chief talks to someone on phone saying "our problem is resolved, he's going to Oregon"
-Move to Oregon cancelled because deceased son's gf is pregnant with deceased son's baby (in other reality she has a miscarriage).
-Chief meets with a heroin dealer (fancy shmancy one with a suit) who says that he'll have to take care of the problem now that he's no longer moving.
-Pregnant girlfriend moves in with main character and his wife because family is pissed at her for not giving baby up for adoption.

Just read that the show is cancelled, so only 2 episodes left. Curious if they try to wrap it up entirely. Probably not.

seamas:
I think I watched just about every episode.

I learned 2-3 weeks back that the show was not coming back next season.
I suppose the producers and writers got wind of it fairly early on.

I thought the last 3 episodes were very good.

The second-to-last one was excellent, as was the first half of the last one.

The resolve was a little meh. My wife liked the ending. I thought it was a bit uninspired.

teethering:
I agree, particularly about the ending.

Such a shame it's done, I had high hopes.

seamas:
I think for some of these types of shows they should really just aim for a single season.

I watch Revenge.
I think the pilot was excellent. I was slightly surprised it wasn't shot on location. (I think it'd be cool if it were.)

But I think the show would be much stronger if the aim was just a single 20-23 episode season.

Revenge got picked up for season 2, but i don't see it  being strong. It's turning heavily towards a soap opera.
