What Films do you Rate as 10's?
« on: Feb 18, 2012, 10:21:44 PM »
Since we have several people not wanting to give the last movie they just saw a 10, let's talk about 10's.  What films are 10's in your opinion?  They don't even have to be films you really love, if it is possible to rate a film a 10 and not like it personally.

Dr. Strangelove

Rear Window.

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet.

The Princess Bride.

The Producers.

Inglorious Basterds.

For a Few Dollars More.

Nobody these days holds the written word in such high esteem as police states do.  What statistic allows one to identify the Nations where Literature enjoys true consideration better than the sums appropriated for controlling and suppressing it.
Italo Calvino.

I could probably name 50 movies at this level. It's hard for a movie to be perfect but it does happen. Anyway, some that peeps missed:

Citizen Kane (obviously but watch Roger Ebert's commentary on it; it'll give you new appreciation for it)
To Kill A Mockingbird
Short Cuts
Nashville
M*A*S*H (NOT THE TV SHOW >:( )
Bull Durham
Raging Bull
The Lives of Others
Rear Window
Rope(!)
Twelve Angry Men

...crap, maybe I could name more than 50...

It's such a cliche but it has a great collection of actors and music. The Marlboro theme rocks.

A lot of the ones I would have named were already mentioned. What I'd add:

The Big Lebowski
Trainspotting
There Will Be Blood

All I can think of for now. I've got about a dozen in my head I'd name 9s, but not quite 10s.

I absolutely loved it. I can see why some folks might not care for it.
