We used to get raw milk and "cook" it at home. Nothing like fresh whole milk and cheese.

You...cooked milk?  Don't you know what that does?!

Yes! But this was long before we knew cooked milk didn't cause cancer.

Boring aside, but making cheese is easier with pasturised milk.  Raw milk is for the well seasoned cheesemaker...

I don't get what's so hard to get about using "milk" as a descritor for plant-based drinks that are used exactly like animal milk.
Because they are an inaduquette nutritional substitute for animal milk.

Except neither we nor the plant milk industries are makign the claim that plant milks are a "nutritional substitute for animal milk" especially for children.

How exactly do you interpret "plant based drinks used exactly like animal milk", if you dont think it implies that they can both be used in the same circumstances?

Feeding soy "milk" to children should be considered child abuse.

Who cares? Drink milk or don't drink milk. People will buy what they want/can drink regardless of "scary" ad campaigns.

Feeding soy "milk" to children should be considered child abuse.

Unless they are lactose intolerant like my son in which case feeding him cow milk could be considered abuse of a sort.

I'll happily call it soy milk or soy juice, the fate of nothing hinges on it and both names are perfectly fine.

That it can be used in similar ways, such as for cereal, or in baking, it doesn't imply that they are nutritionally the same and again all soy milk is clearly labeled as not for infant formula or sole source of nutrition, this harping on how kids are dying cause parents cant tell the friggin difference is ridiculous

Genetically engineer cows to produce alcohol. Everyone's happy: farms, consumers. Problem solved.
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

well i should mention its not just an ad campaign, there is also a legal comparing to legally bar plant milk producers from labeling their products soy milk or almond milk, ect. I dont buy the dairy industries arguments, and so far neither does the FDA

it should also be noted that just as soymilk should not be used as the sole nutrition source for babies, neither should the skim milk pictured in the add. u can use skim milk in conjunction with formula but it should be used alone.

Feeding soy "milk" to children should be considered child abuse.

Unless they are lactose intolerant like my son in which case feeding him cow milk could be considered abuse of a sort.

That was going to be my point, my brother would have been pretty unhappy (or would have been a little while later) if you made him drink cow milk, but he really liked soy milk.  I'm not a fan of soy milk, to be honest... that's why I go with almond (I would go with cow milk, but we use it so rarely/sparingly that it would almost always go bad on us before we were even a half a carton down... Almond milk is good for a couple months so we switched and I haven't wasted milk since)

Also forcing any kid to "drink their milk" if they hate milk should also be considered abuse...  :P

Drinking milk is not my thing.  Thankfully the above only happened once to me, at a friend's house... her mother believed that children ought to drink a glass of milk with their dinner.  Ick.  I still remember it.  My dad or sister will happily down a glass or two, though.

But yeah, all of the soy and almond milks are clearly labeled as not for use with baby formula...  The people who did that are incompetent... But, yeah... I think the term milk is better for them than juice simply because the uses to which they are put (baking, coffee, cereal, etc.) are much more similar (read: identical) to milk than to juices.

And once a word enters popular use it pretty much does mean it... you are never going to grab an almond milk and be appalled by the false advertising because you thought it was cow's milk.

I think your vastly overestimating the intelligence of the average soymilk user.
Regardless of any small print labelling saying it is not suitable, the very fact it’s called milk will lead people to believe it’s a nutritional substitute for animal milk

Saying that I largely don’t care about the labelling, but was just providing an example of a negative for using “milk as a descriptor for plant-based drinks that are used exactly like animal milk”.
