The ability to resist listening to the Guide
« on: Feb 20, 2012, 03:24:10 PM »
So next week (11 days time) my wife and 2 children are heading off for the weekend. I have Friday/Saturday/Sunday to surf the net, watch dicovery and play chess.

I never get a chance to listen to the SGU in piece but I'll be able to do so Friday night week!

If I can resist listening to the SGU's new episode for 1 week!

How can I prevent myself and keep it for my night off?  6 days with an episode and not allowed to,listen - Torture!!!!

I'll be like a heroin addict with a fix in his pocket and trying t resist!

Advice?

Listen to other podcasts. I recommend Caustic Soda.

2nd. I am going through the back eps now.  One of the funniest Podcasts ever.

Just start at the beginning of Caustic Soda.

First few episodes are a little rough, but they polish up the format very early on.

That's just what I was going to say.
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

Depending on your tastes I might also recommend:

Monster Talk
Skeptics With A K (based out of Liverpool, England)
Cognitive Dissonance (more about libs than skepticism though)
Planet Money
Freakonomics
Reasonable Doubts (if you're into the atheist branch of skepticism)
Skepticality
