The severe flooding in Australia isn't just impacting humans, it's also forcing spiders to vacate their homes along swollen riverbanks. Here are creepily pretty photographs of a sort of spider refugee camp near an inland residential area.

WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME!

You can feel them, can't you? Running up and down your body, in and out of your ears.

I saw this yesterday, but didn't want to post because of the above.

I've seen worse. And shouldn't you be thankful that the spiders are still around to eat all the other poisonous crap you aussies have running around in your outback? At least while they're busy eating other stuff, they aren't eating you.

It doesnt work that way. The poisonous creatures tend not to have many predators, because any would-be predators get... y'know... poisoned. All the poisonous stuff just works together to ensure that there are no non-poisonous creatures left in australia.

Personally, Im going to have to either develop venomous fangs or shuffle off any day now. Thats just how it works.

I'm still trying to find William Shatner in the photographs.

Didn't Hollywood make a sci-fi flick about this sort of thing a few years ago?
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

Hey, I didn't post pics, just links. It's your fault if you follow the clearly marked links. :P

They've done it a lot. My comment about Shatner was in reference to Kingdom of the Spiders (1977).

That's so cool, but why are they not eating each other? I didn't think spiders tolerated sharing webs (except in a few cases).
