SGUF, how do we feel about male sterilization?

Yea; Balls on the chopping block buster! YAY!
Nay; Won't somebody please think of the children!?!
Meh; Who cares...
Eww; Keep your medical and reproductive issues to yourself.
All in good time; Breed your allotted young, and then snip snip.

We have Essure, but I'm still considering getting my shit clipped, because, hey, parity, and also because failure is always an option.

Fuck kids.  Do you know how much those things cost?  And they look like lumpy wet clay, and they get boogers on everything, and you have to put away the nice plates, and there are toys and weird smells everywhere, and you have no money, and no sex, and no friends, and you have to pretend to enjoy teeball, and you have to answer hard questions all day long and pretend to love an evil little monster with no respect for how hard you work to support it and provide a good life for it, and I think the point I'm making here is that children are bad. And you should never have them.

All these vesctomy descriptions make me so glad I won't be having one for some time yet.  :D

Fuck kids.

Do not do this. It is illegal in most states.
If you still hold the same views now as you did in high school, you probably should reexamine those views.

Sure that's what you say. I don't believe that, and you can't tell me what I believe is wrong. You can have your beliefs, leave me to have mine.

My mother, the gatekeeper of unthinking and keeper of the wishful thinking... Recent conversation went like this;

"What if you meet a woman who wants to have kids," she said.
"Why would I want to date a woman who wants kids?" I said.
"It seems kind of sad to rule out the possibility..." she said.
"Possibility of what?" I said
"Of finding love," she said
"(facepalm) why would I date someone who wanted children?" I asked again.
No answer.

You know, I didn't intend on telling her about this, and now I remember why. The resulting "conversations" have been priceless.

If you fall in love with someone who wants kids, you can always adopt.

You're 33, right? That's old enough. You're not some idiot nihilistic 22-year-old who thinks they know what they are going to want for the rest of their life but doesn't really have a clue. I say that whatever decision you have already made is the right one.

Your mom obviously wants grandkids. That's a strong reason to not get snipped but not a compelling one.
I expect to pass through this world but once;
any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now;
let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

She already has one grandson, and many more are sure to follow. I should have taken my grandmother's advice, and kept my own private matters to myself. Don't know why I bothered telling my mom. Her mom had warned me... I had been warned. My own damned fault, the shit my mom says. Elevator doesn't go to the top floor with her.

Tell the doc you're nervous and would like something to ease your anxiety.   I mean...why not?

Doc gave me a valium to take before the procedure.   My wife drove me to the appt, and I was already loaded when I walked in the door.   (tangent:  I am shocked there are people who take valium on a regular basis and go out in the world to try and function normally.  Amazing.)

Shave, numb...I don't give a rat's ass...some slight pulling, some cauterizing...still not giving a rat's ass...some stitches, an ice pack, out to the waiting room, "You ready to go?",  "Yyyyyyyyep", couple bags of frozen peas, naps, day time TV, back to work late the next day.  There was some tenderness that lasted a few weeks.

Like I said before, the only time I even think about it is when a thread like this comes along.
How soon can one get back to an active sex life? And does it feel different?

I forget for what period of time my Dr. recommended I abstain, and I don't recall it feeling any different afterwards.

I should've added to my description:  where I went it was like an assembly line.  About a dozen of us patients showed up one evening to watch a video (as a group) and consult with the doctor (individually).  Then we each scheduled appointments for sometime in the next week or so, and we were given our "daddy's little helper" before we left, to take an hour or two before the procedure.

Like WC said, it boils down to having a ride home and a way to keep comfortable for the next 24 hours or so.   It is less traumatic than many other treatments people get on an outpatient basis.

According to Flo, the nurse who operates this county level public health service, who does the orientations and the screenings and everything, says we (the two other guys who showed up to that night's orientation and I) can have sex 48 hours after the procedure. I must be the only single guy on the planet who wanders into sterilization orientations. So, ejaculate all you want 2 days after the no scalpel procedure, never mind the blood. And Skeptress is correct, of course, it takes about six weeks to flush out the remaining sperm. Which I think Flo said is about the equivalent of 40 to 60 ejaculations.

(love how the only mens health service in the county is STERILIZATION... Never fear though, women and children will be left with zero health services as well, before the end of this Rick Scott governorship. I loved, and will frame, the 50s era carbon copied form I had to sign, that read in 78 point font "Consent for STERILIZATION".)

Already take benzos for panic disorder, so I always have fistfuls at hand. I do have white coat anxiety, like most, and it gets the worst right before they take my blood pressure. Getting cut open or having bones set or watching them reattach my thumb or watching them stitch me up, none of this freaks me out, but getting my blood pressure taken; my blood pressure goes through the roof.

I would've gotten one if I wasn't pretty sure that I'm one of these. In favour of the idea, but not in the 100% certain I never want kids-camp.
