And does anyone know if he has the film rights to the whole series or just the first book?  If it's the whole series I's think they would be much better off just starting with Rama II, since the first book kind of comes of as just a really long prologue.  Everything in it needed plot wise could easily be revealed through flashbacks/opening narration/in movie news casts.  The plot for Rama II would make a MUCH better movie and has way more action in it (at least in my opinion).

ALso better characters.  I can't remeber a damned thing about any of the characters from RwR, but Rama II. has multiple memorable characters and several very memorable ones.

Holden Attradies:
My understanding was that  Rendezvous with Rama was more of a short story Clarke had pumped out, but because of the way he ended it (the line about the Raman's doing everything in threes thus assuming two more ships were coming) there was so much fan request for the second part he fleshed it out and actually turned it into a real book via Rama II.

I've been wanting to read this for awhile.  Now I have an excuse!

Ooooooohhh!

One of my favorite 'hard' sci-fi books. Would love to see it filmed, but have to wonder as it is quite slowly paced.
